Alanna Gray - Kirkfield Park
Why did you decide to run in the 2011 Manitoba election?
I decided to run for the Green Party in Kirkfield Park to provide my community with the opportunity to vote Green. One thing I have heard going door to door in the constiuency is a high degree of voter apathy toward the other parties. The Green Party of Manitoba has innovative ideas and a fresh grasp of politics; I wanted to give my constituents the chance to vote for that.
What experience will you bring to compliment your role as MLA?
My experience living abroad and working and advocating in so many different areas will compliment my role as an MLA. From my activities on Parliament Hill to Graduate school in Scotland and travelling Western Europe to being back in Winnipeg and talking to residents of Kirkfield Park I have met so many different people. This is crucial to representing my community in the Manitoba Legislature and being a uniting voice for all of Kirkfield Park.
What is your favourite location in the electoral division you are currently a candidate for?
My favourite place in Kirkfield Park is anywhere along Sturgeon Creek. I walk and bike along the Creek all year long starting at the Woodhaven Community Club and either heading East to Assinboine Park or Northwest past Grant's Old Mill along the Sturgeon Creek pathway. I love the red winged Blackbirds that make the Creek their home.
